Pima County Sheriff's Inmate Lookup
The Pima County Sheriff's inmate lookup is the official current-custody search for the Adult Detention Complex. The page is labeled "Inmate Lookup Public View." It says the roster was built to help criminal justice agencies, courts, and people with public-record inmate questions. Commercial use is barred.
The lookup page sets the rules. It uses one search field and one button. The roster includes people sentenced, people held for another jurisdiction, and people accused but not convicted of a crime.

How to Use the Pima County Jail Roster
The Pima County jail roster is built for last-name lookups. A successful search returns a list of currently booked people that match the entered last name. From there, a researcher can click a name to view the public booking record.
- Open the Sheriff's inmate lookup at sheriff.pima.gov/inmate.
- Type the inmate's last name in the search field.
- Click "Lookup Inmate." The script will alert if the entry is too short or has invalid characters.
- Review the list of current bookings and pick the right person by date and case.
- Open the booking page to see charges, hold reason, and bond status.
- Call the jail at 520-351-8111 if a person is not listed and you need to confirm release or transfer.
The Sheriff page is clear that the roster reflects only people currently in custody at the Adult Detention Complex. A person may have been released, transferred, or never booked at this jail. The Pima County Public Library inmate-search guide walks first-time users through the local, state, and federal options.
Note: A roster listing is a custody status, not a finding of guilt; many people in the system have not been convicted.
What the Pima Inmate Lookup Covers
The Pima County inmate lookup covers current adult bookings at the Adult Detention Complex. It does not cover state prison custody, federal prison custody, or other county jails. Sentenced prisoners moved into Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry custody must be searched in the state system.
Federal custody is in the Bureau of Prisons. Use the BOP Inmate Locator for federal cases. For real-time custody-change notifications across many states, use VINELink. Each tool covers a different slice of the system.
The roster also includes people held for another jurisdiction at the Pima jail. That category means the person is physically in Pima custody but the prosecuting court is elsewhere. The jail listing does not say which court holds the case.

Bond Payment at the Pima County Jail
Bonds are taken at the Inmate Accounts Office in the main lobby of the Adult Detention Complex. Surety and currency bonds posted by bail bond agents are taken 24 hours a day. Lobby kiosks accept cash, credit, and debit. TouchPay online and the TouchPay phone line at 1-866-232-1899 take credit or debit.
ID validation is required for every bond. The exact amount is required at the window; staff do not give change. Most bond transactions are processed within the hour, but a full release can take up to five hours. No releases happen between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. for security reasons.
| Method | Available | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Surety bond by bail bond agent | 24 hours | Sheriff's Department does not recommend bondsmen. |
| Currency bond at Inmate Accounts window | 24 hours; counter rules apply | Exact amount; cash, cashier's check, or money order. |

Booking, Custody, and Release Windows
Booking at the Adult Detention Complex creates the public roster entry. The Sheriff's page makes clear that "held for another jurisdiction," "sentenced," and "accused but not convicted" all sit in the same roster. The roster does not flag guilt.
Release timing follows jail rules. The Sheriff's bond page says an inmate released from custody or being bonded out will be processed as soon as possible between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., but it may take up to five hours. Because of security issues, individuals are not released between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. Most bond transactions are processed within the hour, but the release path itself runs on jail timing.
Inmate accounts funds released at the end of a stay come back as a debit card or money order. The inmate must submit a Money Transfer authorization before any funds are released. The inmate accounts page sets the rules.
Visitation Schedule and Rules
Visitation at the Pima County jail is by video only. Inmates may have visits once they have made their first court appearance and have been assigned to a permanent housing unit. On-site visitors must report to the Main Jail Front Desk at 1270 W. Silverlake Road 15 minutes before a scheduled visit. A current photo ID is required.
| Visit Type | Schedule | Fee / Notes |
|---|---|---|
| On-site video visit | Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Sat-Sun 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; not on federal holidays | One free 30-minute visit per inmate per week; extra 30 minutes $9.00 per inmate per day. |
| Remote video visit | GTL GettingOut tablet; visitor logged in with notifications | $0.25 per minute, up to 15 minutes at a time. |
| Special visits | Schedule normal visit first, then call hotline | 520-351-8114 or 520-351-8111; provide name, confirmation, phone, request. |
No more than four people may visit at one time. Juveniles must be with an adult. Disciplinary lockdown blocks visits. Juvenile inmates may not receive visits until after 3:30 p.m. on weekdays but may visit during regular hours on weekends. All non-privileged video visits are subject to monitoring and recording by the Sheriff's Department and ViaPath. Visitors must be at least 18 to hold a Friends and Family account; minors must appear on-screen with the adult account holder.
Inmate Money Deposits and Accounts
The Pima County jail accepts inmate-account deposits at the Inmate Accounts Window. U.S. bank checks and money orders are taken with no limit. Personal checks are not accepted. Cash is accepted for the value of deposit only; no change is given, and no coins are accepted for deposits. Valid government photo ID is required for every deposit.
Online deposits run through GTL or TouchPay. The page lists service fees that apply to electronic deposits. Money released at the end of a stay comes back as a debit card or money order, and the inmate must sign the Money Transfer authorization first.
Bond money and account deposits run on separate paths and use different windows. A bond is not the same as a court fine. Court fines paid at the Clerk's office or AZ Court Pay do not go through the jail.
Mail, Phone, and Tablet Services
Inmates at the Adult Detention Complex use the Sheriff's postal service, phone service, and tablet service. The postal service page sets mail rules. The inmate phone and voice-mail page covers calls and messaging. The tablet program lets inmates access selected services in-cell.
Each service has fees and rules that change over time. The official Sheriff pages are the right source for current limits, banned items, and pricing. Family members should check before sending or scheduling.
State Prison and Federal Custody Search
State prison custody runs through the ADCRR Inmate Data Search. Federal custody runs through the BOP Inmate Locator. Both tools are free. The BOP locator supports a register number, DCDC number, FBI number, INS number, or first or middle or last name with race, sex, and age.
The BOP locator is the right tool for federal custody status from a Pima County case that moved to federal court.
VINELink offers custody-change alerts where the state and the participating agency report. Set up a phone, text, or email alert through vinelink.com to track release events without checking the roster every day.
VINELink data depends on what each state shares; coverage of Arizona local jails varies.
Pima County Sheriff and Command Staff
Sheriff Chris Nanos leads the Pima County Sheriff's Department, the agency that runs the Adult Detention Complex and serves all unincorporated parts of Pima County. The command staff is listed on the Sheriff's organization page. The Sheriff's 2025 annual report adds context on staffing, calls for service, and jail population trends.
The Sheriff's office tip line uses the slogan 88-CRIME (520-882-7463). The PCAO 88-Crime Program Coordinator role and the Pima County 88-Crime program help route tips to the right agency. Mental Health 24/7 Hotline is at 520-622-6000.
